Khe Sanh Veterans,
Inc. Scholarship Foundation 2015-16 Annual Report
Committee – Bruce “T-Bone” Jones, Dennis Mannion, Bill Jayne,
Now in its 7th
year, the Scholarship Foundation has proven to be a hugely
successful program. It is very popular with the general
membership providing scholarship support to the children and
grandchildren of Khe Sanh Veterans. All donations from the
membership have been simply outstanding allowing the Committee
to provide even larger awards to all students that provide
correctly completed applications. School year 2015-16 has
fourteen applicants of which three will be getting their 4
year undergraduate degrees. Last year, 2014-15, we began to
see the first 4 year graduates of the program.
In the seven years of
the Scholarship Fund there have been 81 college bound students
that were supported with over $40,000 in scholarship awards
from donations and proceeds of the reunion silent auctions.
These young scholars have worked hard to achieve degrees in
medicine, music, engineering, business administration,
education, law enforcement, journalism, theater arts, research
sciences cosmetology, physical therapy and one grad is now a
U.S. Marine officer. A list of this years’ awards is included
with this report.
It can only happen
with the continuing donations from our membership. The letters
of appreciation we receive from the students each year are
sincere and tell how honored they are to be supported by
Veterans of Khe Sanh and the Vietnam War.
Committee thanks you for your support!
